Misa Nakagaki was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1985, and is a graduate of the Japan Institute of Photography and Film.
After working as a graphic designer for 4 years, she began her freelance career as a photographer while also working as a photographer’s assistant.

She is currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
Her work is mainly featured in magazines and books, and she works in a wide variety of genres, from culinary photography to landscapes and portraits. Through her many travels, she also photographs many parts of Japan, both urban and rural. In addition to commercial photography, she also spends time on her own private works. Music, hot springs, and flowers are some of the things she enjoys in her spare time.
